For a more challenging ride, begin at the bridleway just east of the small car park at the majestic Bwlch y Clawdd viewpoint, you’ll set out on the long, gentle downhill ride into Ton Pentre. You will have the whole panorama ahead of you throughout the descent, making every moment on the route worthy of its own postcard.
Throughout the ride, you’ll pass sites of historical interest, such as Tarren Felen Uchaf, the cairn just south of the first half of the route. Beyond the midpoint, you’ll pass an Iron Age hillfort, clearly distinguished by the earthworks that press up out of the ground.
After the fort, it is a short descent into Pentre, where transport links, shops, cafes and pubs abound, and you can look back in triumph at the mountain you’ve just ridden down. Now to embark on your return journey.
